The Vice President expressed the Administration’s condolences for the recent ISIS attacks against the Afghan people who were seeking to participate in their country’s electoral process. Vice President Pence highlighted the importance of holding democratic elections and political inclusion for the long-term stability and effectiveness of the Kabul government. In response to the Taliban’s recent announcement of their spring offensive, the Vice President reiterated the U.S. and international commitment to partner with and support the Afghan government and security forces under President Trump’s South Asia strategy.
