Vice President Mike Pence met today with Chilean President Sebastian Piñera to highlight the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries, and to discuss issues of interest including trade, security and strengthening democracy. The leaders roundly condemned the horrific use of chemical weapons against civilians in Syria, and the Vice President noted U.S. resolve to deter future attacks. The two leaders also addressed the disastrous humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and emphasized that the region must do more to return democracy to Venezuela.
