Vice President Mike Pence spoke with Prime Minister Nasir ul-Mulk of Pakistan by phone today. The Vice President congratulated the Prime Minister on his current position. Vice President Pence highlighted the importance of the upcoming Pakistani general election, scheduled for July, which ul-Mulk’s caretaker government is responsible for overseeing, being free and fair. The Vice President also discussed President Trump’s South Asia strategy and reiterated our asks of Pakistan for its support and cooperation in combating terrorist sanctuaries to improve stability and security in the region. Vice President Pence and Prime Minister ul-Mulk affirmed a desire to see an improvement in the relationship between our two countries.
