President Donald J. Trump spoke today with Governor Ricardo Rosselló to express support for the people of Puerto Rico as they respond to and recover from Hurricanes Irma and Maria with Federal assistance. Governor Rosselló thanked President Trump for his leadership and quick action to approve emergency declarations for Puerto Rico. He also repeatedly thanked President Trump for the great response by Federal agencies, led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Governor Rosselló briefed the President on the unprecedented destruction caused by Hurricane Maria. President Trump affirmed that America stands with the people of Puerto Rico, and pledged continued Federal assistance for the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
