Vice President Mike Pence met today with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada to discuss key issues related to trade, security and democracy in the hemisphere. Both leaders expressed the importance of reaching agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement as soon as possible, and the Vice President reiterated that a deal must ensure fair and reciprocal trade.  The Vice President also thanked Prime Minister Trudeau for Canada’s strong support of U.S, British and French action in Syria in response to the horrific use of chemical weapons against civilians. The two leaders shared their mutual concern about the devastating crisis in Venezuela, and discussed how to continue to pressure the Maduro regime to restore democracy.
