On Thursday, March 26, 2020, the President signed into law:
H.R. 1365, which authorizes the payment of eligible claims to victims and survivors of the attack and occupation of Guam by the Imperial Japanese forces;
H.R. 4803, the “Citizenship for Children of Military Members and Civil Servants Act,” which establishes that a foreign-born child of a U.S. citizen member of the Armed Forces or Government employee stationed abroad may automatically acquire U.S. citizenship even if the child is not residing in the United States;
S. 760, the “Support for Veterans in Effective Apprenticeships Act,” which improves coordination between DOL and VA regarding individuals using VA education benefits for apprenticeship programs; and
S. 1678, the “Taiwan Allies International Protection and Enhancement Initiative (TAIPEI) Act of 2019,” which requires the Department of State to report to Congress on steps taken by the United States government to strengthen Taiwan’s diplomatic relations with other partners in the Indo-Pacific region and alter United States’ engagement with nations that undermine the security or prosperity of Taiwan.
