President Trump spoke by phone today with President Francois Hollande of France to express his desire to strengthen U.S.-French cooperation on a range of issues, especially on counterterrorism and security. The leaders discussed our military and defense cooperation both bilaterally and through NATO. President Trump reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to NATO and noted the importance of all NATO Allies sharing the burden on defense spending. The leaders also lauded our combined efforts to eliminate ISIS in Iraq and Syria. President Trump expressed his condolences for the loss of life in terrorist attacks in France over the past two years. The two leaders agreed to continue close coordination between Washington and Paris on issues of mutual concern.
